Gobble Gobble Babble

Heya, lovelies!  I'm sorry I've been scarce around these parts.  I've been slammaroo'd lately, but hopefully after the 10th (when the final book is due - GULP!) I'll have more time to devote to my beloved OOBH.  To be perfectly honest, I'm getting sick of the sound of my own internal "voice."

I've noticed a bit of an overall slow-down in the bloggyverse though, so I guess I'm not alone. It's a busy time of year for all of us! I hope you're all keeping your wits about you and trying to enjoy yourselves this holiday season.

Me want cookie fix!
I'm still recovering from Thanksgiving. My diet started yesterday because I've reached the point where I have a decision to make: become okay with being chubby and buy all new pants, OR stop snacking and drinking wine like it's water. So I've chosen the latter - I'm just not ready to be the confident chubby girl just yet.  Trouble is, I HATE DIETING.  Yeah, I know - nobody likes dieting, but I'm like, morally opposed to it.  Still, it can't be helped.  Damn my crappy genetics and love of delicious food!  Curse you!

Speaking of food, I'm starting to regret buying such a big turkey. I feel like Bubba from Forest Gump, only instead of shrimp I've been eating turkey non-stop for days! So far I've made Turkey Tetrizzini, Turkey Pot Pie, Turkey Soup, and yes, I have a turkey sandwich in my lunch bag as we speak. Ugh.

Not cool.  Ya' know what is cool?  This animated gif I found of every movie role Bill Murray has ever had (except Garfield).  I *heart* it.  A lot.

Okay, enough of me babbling.  It has taken me a few hours to write this disjointed mess of a post because I've been interrupted a dozen times.  So let me just ask you these things, because misery really does love company:

- Anyone else trying to lose weight during the holidays?
- Anyone else about to sprout feathers and a (bigger) waddle due to overdoing the turkey consumption?
- Anyone still reading the OOBH?  My comment section has had tumble weeds blowing through it these last few weeks!

The Bev loves you.  Have a good day.
XOXO

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, my darling BOOBHs! I hope all of my American bloggy buddies are spending a lovely day with your families. I am cooking a huge feast for my little family; this is our second year of staying home and I could not be happier about it! We'll miss seeing our extended families but there is nothing quite like spending Thanksgiving in your pajamas (hurray for elastic waists!), watching movies, having a football catch, and oh yeah - eating and drinking!

Last year's dinner will be hard to top (my son still raves about it and it was pretty terrific, if I do say so myself... and I do), but so far the meal is coming along nicely.  I made two dishes last night, got up before dawn to make the stuffing and molest the bird, and now I'm letting my husband sleep in while the kids watch The Polar Express.  Soon, a nap.  :)

Even though I allowed the turkey to thaw for four days it was still a little bit frozen inside, so fishing around for the neck this morning was a real treat!  I finally resorted to squirting hot water in there to loosen the ice so I could get my fingers around it, so if we die of ptomaine poisoning later today, that's why.  Oh, and since this is only the 3rd or 4th turkey I've ever roasted in my life I was pleased to finally remember where they hide the darn giblet package!

At some point today we'll be watching Elf, which is a Thanksgiving tradition 'round these parts.  This movie just gives me the warm fuzzies and gets me ready for Christmas!

Speaking of that, I am venturing out at the ass-crack of pre-dawn tomorrow morning on my first-ever Black Friday excursion.  Please wish me luck!  I think we can hold our own; I'm not afraid to throw some elbows or dirty looks, especially at 4 AM.  Bitches best not get in between me and a half-priced Dyson!

Anygravy, just wanted to pop in and wish you all a wonderful day.  I am SO SO SO SO thankful for all of you.  Your friendship and the laughter we share means the world to me!

*MWAH*  Gotta run - my coffee ain't gonna spike itself.  ;)

XOXO
La Bev

Early life
Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas was born on October 13, 1980, in Glen Cove, New York. She is African American of Saharan descent. Her nickname is "Bon Bon" given to her by her family. She acquired a love for music from her mother, Tina Douglas, a former dance teacher and her father, Ken-Kaide Thomas Douglas, a former singer. She has a younger sister named Kenashia. Her mother named her after the Ashanti Empire in Ghana; in this nation, women had power and influence, and Ashanti's mother wanted her daughter to follow that model. Her grandfather, James, was a civil-rights activist who associated with Martin Luther King, Jr. during the 1960s.[ Growing up, Ashanti took dance lessons and joined the church choir. Ashanti went to Bernice Johnson Cultural Arts Center, where she studied different dance styles, including tap, jazz, ballet, African, modern, and hip hop. She danced with the Senior Pro Ensemble at Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Avery Fisher Hall, and the Black Spectrum Theater. She also performed at the 1994 Caribbean Awards and dancing with Judith Jamison of the Alvin Ailey Dance Company. With actress and choreographer Debbie Allen at the helm, Ashanti also performed in the Disney television film Polly alongside stars Keshia Knight Pulliam Jomecia Moore and Phylicia Rashad.

When she was six, Ashanti sang in a gospel choir, but her mother discovered her full singing potential when she overheard Ashanti singing Mary J. Blige's "Reminisce" to her at age twelve. By the time Ashanti hit puberty, her mother was sending out demo tapes of her singing and dancing. The family could not afford to go to a studio and record a formal demo, so when labels called, Ashanti would have to sing and dance in front of the record company executives. While attending high school, she began to write songs. As a teenager, she performed in a local talent show and at the Soul Cafe, China Club, Madison Square Garden, Caroline's Comedy Club and Greek Fest 2000. In her first major singing performance, Ashanti performed Yolanda Adams's "More Than a Melody". She also appeared in a number of big-name music videos, in addition to other dance work.

She cites Janet Jackson, Prince, Tupac Shakur, Marvin Gaye, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Blue Magic, Smokey Robinson, Luther Vandross, The Clark Sisters, Mary J. Blige, and Donna Summer amongst her musical influences.
Recording career
Early career
When Ashanti was fourteen, she was discovered by P.Diddy's Bad Boy Records. Initially, she went to Bad Boy Records and sang one of Mary J. Blige's songs in front of P.Diddy and Biggie Smalls. After being impressed by her singing ability, Diddy had her sign to a development deal. In the end, due to a bad contract, Ashanti did not sign with Diddy. This ultimately led to a record deal with Jive Records in 1994. This relationship soured when Jive tried to make Ashanti into a pop singer.
Ashanti subsequently involved herself in schoolwork, cheerleading, and running on her school's track team. She was an honor student in English and belonged to the English club where she began writing poetry. She was also in the Drama club and performed in a few plays. she put college pursuits aside when Epic Records approached her with a contract in 1998. However, the label's management changes quickly made Ashanti a low priority. She continued to perform at local New York clubs and began hanging out at the Murder Inc. recording studio, hoping for another big break

hair styles world

Hairstyles is a title used for international editions of a professional hairdressing magazine originally published in Barcelona, Spain under the name Peluquerias. The founder of the magazine is Spanish hairdresser Lluis Llongueras.
I have always heard that most brides love long wedding hair styles. Even if you have short hair, you may want your hair to appear more full and sassy instead flat to your head.
You want to grow your hair to significant length in order to have the long wedding hair style you have always wanted. But if you are only about 1 month away from your big day, you should be out there looking for hair extensions.
But wait. Before you start searching for hair extensions, do consider the positive and negative aspects.
Here are some pros and cons for getting hair extensions:
Pros:
1. Hey, it is only once a lifetime and your hair will look fabulous for your wedding day.
2. You can create a stunning and lovely look that will make all your guests drool.

Cons:
1. You will spend a lot of money. But if you have deep pocket, it is worth for the once-in-a-lifetime look.
2. Your hair may be damaged if the extensions are not attached and removed properly. A solution to this problem is look for saloons that you can trust. You can ask your female friends for recommendation.
Of course, I feel every bride has her unique personality and she should find the right wedding hairstyle
that fit her best, be it growing her long hair, keeping it short or having any kind of hair extensions.
Some brides are more suitable to have long wedding hair styles while others are look prettier with short wedding hair styles.
It is all about personal preference and choice.
So to help you been exposed to more wedding hair styles pcitures (and to help you make a better decision), this post of the “35 Awesome Wedding hair Style” series is on “long wedding hair styles”. And it is the last post of this series.

Tisdale was born in West Deal, Monmouth County, New Jersey on July 2, 1985, to Lisa (née Morris) and Mike Tisdale, the manager of a construction company. Her elder sister, Jennifer Tisdale, is an actress, and her maternal grandfather, Arnold Morris, developed the Ginsu Knives. Through her grandfather, Tisdale is also related to businessman Ron Popeil. At the age of three, Tisdale met her current manager, Bill Perlman, at a New Jersey mall. He sent her to numerous auditions for commercials, resulting in her placement in more than 100 national network TV ads as a kid. She began her theatrical career by appearing in Gypsy: A Musical Fable and The Sound of Music at Monmouth County's Jewish Community Center.
At the age of eight, she was cast to play the part of Cosette in a national touring production of the musical Les Misérables. "When I was little, I saw the play Les Misérables on Broadway, I thought it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen so I went to my manager and told him I wanted to be in it", said Tisdale in an interview to Newsday in 2007. She also claims to have had only a single singing lesson before landing the role. Tisdale toured for two years on Les Misérables before landing a role in an international touring production of Annie. At the age of twelve, Tisdale sang at the White House for President Bill Clinton.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Tisdale had minor roles in several television shows such as The Hughleys, Smart Guy, 7th Heaven, Boston Public and Bette and in the feature films A Bug's Life and Donnie Darko.[ During this time, she simultaneously worked as a Ford Model.[9] For her role in Boston Public, she received a 2000 Young Artist Award nomination for "Best Guest Performance In a TV drama".
In 2004, she was cast as the teenage candy-counter girl Maddie Fitzpatrick in the Disney Channel series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, which premiered in March 2005 and ended in 2008. She later won her first award at the UK Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards for "Best TV Actress", due to her performance as Fitzpatrick.
Although the producers of the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical did not initially consider her because of her "good-girl image" on The Suite Life, Tisdale was eventually cast as the popular, narcissistic high school student Sharpay Evans in the 2006 film. The soundtrack, in which Tisdale lent her vocals for several songs, became the top-selling album in the United States that year. Tisdale became the first female artist to debut with two songs simultaneously on the "Billboard Hot 100" with "What I've Been Looking For" and "Bop to the Top", both tracks from the film's soundtrack. High School Musical became Disney Channel's most watched movie that year, with 7.7 million viewers in its US premiere broadcast. Due to the popularity earned by Tisdale through her performance in High School Musical, Warner Bros. Records signed her for a recording contract in July 2006 and she started working on her debut album.
